Dr. Jorge Simental, Emergency Medicine physician, owner of Wilderness Expeditions LLC, is an expert on the field of high altitude medicine and the treatment and prevention of frostbite and hypothermia. Dr. Simental is an avid fly-fisherman, climber and mountain biker.

Dr. John Eggermont, is Director of Travel Medicine International and for 10 years taught travel medicine and international health at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine, Chapel Hill.

The Seminar Venue:
Summit Station Lodge is located in the midst of Glacier National Park, Montana on the outskirts of the Lewis and Clark National Forest and the Bob Marshall. The rustic architecture fits its high country setting. The lodge has rustic cabins with all the amenities needed. Furthermore, the lounge has a unique restaurant with pristine cuisine. East Glacier Park, entrance to the park, is just a few minutes away.

Located in the northwest corner of Montana, this scenic park is the gateway to the Rocky mountain range, with magestic views and beautiful flora and fauna. June is the end of the spring and September is the beginning of autumn. Each season provides a beautiful flavor to the park. The weather is usually warm during the day with cool nights. (59-77°F).

Course overview, objectives and lectures: Travel to the wilderness areas of our planet presents mountaineers, trekkers and tourists with complex problems in the fields of wilderness and travel medicine. Our seminar will focus on some of the most serious and common problems including high altitude related illnesses, hypothermia, and common traveler's infectious diseases. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | |
Objectives:
On completion of this course, participants will be able to: | - Discuss the physiology of the acclimatization process to high altitude.
- Outline the prevention and treatment of AMS and HAPE.
- Describe the pathophysiology and treatment of HACE.
- Advise patients on appropriate travel immunization.
- Outline the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of hypothermia.

Deposits
| A $300 deposit reserves your space. You may pay by credit card or check. Upon receipt of your deposit, you will receive confirmation of your registration and a billing statement, followed by detailed travel planning material a short time later. Final payment is due 60 days prior to the seminar. |
Refunds: If you must cancel your reservation, your deposits will be refunded less the following amounts: |

Cancellation fees cannot be waived for any reason, including health, business, personal emergencies, or weather. Travel Insurance is recommended.

No refunds will be made for unused portions of a trip, including late arrival or early departure. Summit Station Lodge reserves the right to modify an itinerary due to circumstances beyond our control.
